The patient is examined by a dental specialist who activates a light wand and shines it into the patientís mouth to examine the oral tissue. The tissue will glow a blue/white colour. A blue liquid is applied to suspicious areas to visualise the extent of the lesion, and if cause for concern, the patient is referred to a specialist.
